Protest In Downtown Lexington Over Fighting In Gaza

The ongoing fighting in Gaza inspired a protest Wednesday night in downtown Lexington.

The Central Kentucky Council for Peace and Justice organized the rally.

Protestors called for a cease-fire, with some who argued that the United States had been too one-sided in its support of Israel.

"What we’re asking for is, negotiations, peace and perhaps, not in the agenda right away, a U.S. Foreign policy that’s more evenhanded," said Richard Mitchell with the Central Kentucky Council for Peace and Justice.

An estimated crowd of 100-to-150 people attended the rally near the courthouse.
