Prosecutor: Sex charges against former judge cover 9 victims

BURLINGTON, Ky. (AP) – A former northern Kentucky judge has pleaded not guilty to an 11-count indictment in a human trafficking and rape case.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports ( ) 70-year-old Tim Nolan entered the plea on Wednesday to multiple charges including rape, witness tampering, human trafficking, unlawful transaction of a minor and prostitution. Prosecutor Barbara Whaley says the indictment covers nine victims including a 16-year-old girl. Few other details are known.

Defense attorney Margo Grubbs said police didn’t interview all the witnesses and that the mother of one of the victims violated Nolan’s no-contact court order. She said the charges against Nolan are a “conspiracy” in retribution for a defamation lawsuit he filed against local Republicans who accused him of racism.

A judge set bail at $50,000 in cash and $100,000 in property.
