Pro-life activists rally in Frankfort
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The pro-life movement hit the Capitol Thursday. “Kentucky is really a pro-life state. we just needed change to happen here,” said Kentucky Right to Life Director Mike Ryan.
Governor Matt Bevin was one of the advocates in attendence. “We’re outraged appropriately at this sudeden unexpected loss of young life and yet thousands of young lives are taken everyday and where’s the outrage?”
Leaders and activists praised past victories such as last year’s ban on abortions after 20 weeks. They urged the passage of new legislation, such as HB 454 which would ban abortions by dismemberment after 11 weeks and HB 455 which would ban down syndrome abortions.
The crowd praised leadership at all branches that seems ready to support a pro life Kentucky. “When you disrespect life on the front end, on the back-end, then you disrespect life in the middle,” said Lieutenant Governor Jenean Hampton.
Back in January, pro-choice advocated rallied in the same place. They stated strong opposition to HB 103, which would require a doctor to give a patient a written ultrasound description before they get an abortion. That bill has not been voted on.
