Pro-Impeachment rally in downtown Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Hundreds of people gathered in downtown Lexington on Tuesday night to show support for impeaching the President.

The rally was scheduled on Tuesday night for a reason. It’s the night before the House of Representatives takes its vote.

The rally is one of many across the country. It’s part of a nation wide rally called, “Nobody is above the law”.

The rally’s local coordinator, Aaron Viles says we need to hold our elected officials accountable. He says we need to tell our representatives to vote to remove President Trump from office for using foreign governments to influence the 2020 election.

“We have to act now. We have to put a very clear mark of disapproval on what the president has been show very clearly to have done,” said Aaron Viles.

Viles adds if our elected officials don’t hold the president accountable, they’re basically saying it’s acceptable to meddle with U.S. elections.

Protestors that attended the rally say it’s time to put country above party.

“By being here I’m able to put forth the grass roots effort to show my elected officials that I’m not going to be silent on this issue and I’m going to hold them accountable,” said McKayla Weaver, Protestor.

Protestors marched around six blocks in downtown Lexington to share their message.
