Private plane makes emergency landing

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A private plane made an emergency landing in a field off of Woodlake Road in Franklin County late Friday afternoon, according to the Franklin County Sheriff. The two people onboard, Dean and Cindy Stoops of Harrodsburg, were not hurt, according to investigators.

Records show the plane is owned by Dick Stoops. It was on a flight from Jacksonville, North Carolina to Frankfort, Kentucky. The plane took off at 11:31 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Frankfort at 2:35 p.m. It was reported down at 3:09 p.m., according to aviation information available online.

The plane is a 1959 Cessna 175. Records indicate Dick Stoops purchased the plane in 2007.

The incident is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
