Prestonsburg pumpkin sets new State Fair record

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Dwight Slone, of Prestonsburg, won first place in the eighth annual Largest Pumpkin Contest Friday at the Kentucky State Fair and did it in record-breaking fashion.

Slone’s pumpkin weighed in at 1,223 pounds, setting a new State Fair record.

Slone received a dollar for every pound, totaling $1,223.

The pumpkin can be viewed in the West Hall throughout the Fair.

The Kentucky State Fair runs through August 27 at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
