Prescription Drugs Stolen from Lexington Pharmacy

Lexington Police said C & C Pharmacy on Mapleleaf Drive was burglarized early Monday morning.

Officers said that they were called to the store around 2:00.

Police said one of the store’s windows had been broken out, and security cameras had captured someone moving around inside the business.

According to investigators, pain medication in liquid and pills forms were stolen.

It was at least the third time the pharmacy had been hit since 2009.

While police said thefts of pain medications were down, they added that prescription drug abuse continued to be a serious problem.

"There will always be those people who will seek to steal these particular medications because they are effective, they’re powerful, and there is still a quite a few people unfortunately that are hooked on [them], Lexington Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

Roberts also said the resale price on the street was still fairly high.

The owners of C & C Pharmacy said that they planned to beef up security.

Police asked that anyone with information on the burglary call police at 859-258-3600.
