Power restored to Richmond Road area in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A brief power outage left businesses, homes and streets in the dark in the Richmond Road area of Lexington on Wednesday evening.
Kentucky Utilities says an insulator problem at a substation near the Kentucky- American Water Company building led to the outage that affected more than 6,000 K-U customers.
Lexington Police used inverters to power dark traffic signals along always busy Richmond Road near New Circle Road. Officers directed traffic where signals were dark. K-U crews began working on the problem immediately and power was restored around 10:00 p.m.
