UPDATE: After Polo Club outage restored, power lost along Alexandria Drive

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Following a power outage that left nearly 3,000 residents without electricity in the Polo Club area of Lexington Thursday morning, a second outage along Versailles Road and Alexandria Drive was reported.

Power has now been restored to most of the 1,300 customers who were affected, according to Kentucky Utilities’ website.

Lexington Traffic Management says traffic signals went dark at the Versailles Road/Alexandria Drive intersection, the Versailles Road/Parkers Mill intersection, and the Alexandria Drive/Darien Drive intersection.  Auxiliary power equipment has been installed and the lights are now working again.

KU is estimating power will be completely restored in about 2 hours.

No word yet on what caused the day’s second power outage.

Power restored after Thursday morning outage in Polo Club area

Some Lexington residents started their Thursday without any power.

According to the Kentucky Utilities website, an outage was reported just before 8:00 a.m. in the Polo Club area of the city.

At it’s height, over 2,500 residents were without power.

KU says the outage was caused by a switch on a transformer that went bad.

Power was restored just after 9:00 a.m.
