Powell Co. minister accused of sexual abuse appears in court
WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Powell Co. minister faced a judge for the first time Tuesday morning, after being accused of sexually abusing two children from his church.
The attorney for Steven Williams submitted a not guilty plea on his behalf, and asked for his bond to be reduced. His attorney says he’s known Williams for more than twenty years and says the allegations do not fit the former ministers character.
ABC 36 was told Williams came into contact with his victims during a church field trip and that one of the victims was abused for over a year. Williams has no criminal history. Meanwhile, the Sheriff is asking any other victims to come forward.
A preliminary and bond hearing has been set for next Tuesday in Wolfe Co.
