Possible murder charges after fatal collision in Graves Co.

MELBER, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man faces possible murder charges after a collision in Graves Co. took the life of a 95-year-old woman.

State police say it happened October 12 just before 1:00 p.m. in the 3200 block of KY 1820. According to investigators, Helen M. Adams was traveling eastbound on her lawn mower when she was struck from behind by 24-year-old William R. Crumbaugh of Cunningham, KY.

Officers say Adams was thrown from the mower in the accident. She was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, where she was later pronounced dead. Crumbaugh was arrested on multiple charges, including assault, operating a vehicle under the influence, and possession of marijuana. He was taken to the Graves Co. Jail. Since the passing of Adams, troopers say they intend to change Crumbaugh’s assault charge to a 1st degree murder charge.

The collision remains under investigation.
