UPDATE: South Broadway intersection project continues work

UPDATE POSTED SEPTEMBER 10, 2021 AT 5:38 P.M.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ/Press Release) – The project at the intersection of South Broadway/US 68 and West Maxwell Street continues.

From Sunday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. until Monday, Sept. 13 at 6 a.m., the electrical contractor will be setting a new signal pole with pole arms at the intersection.

Lane closures will be in effect on West Maxwell Street for the right turn lane onto South Broadway and the right through lane. The right lane of inbound South Broadway will also be closed.

If the work is not completed during the scheduled time, it will be done on Monday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. through Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 6 a.m.

UPDATE POSTED AUGUST 26, 2021 AT 11:21 A.M.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ/Press Release) – Work continues on updates at the intersection of South Broadway/US 68 and West Maxwell Street at milepoint 6.427.

From 10 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29 through 4 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, the block with West Maxwell Street will be closed between South Broadway and Plunkett Street. The closure is needed for signal conduit installation.

Drivers can take a couple of alternate routes during the installation.

Those turning right onto West Maxwell Street can take Pine Street or Cedar Street in combination with Plunkett Street or South Mill Street to bypass the closure. Additionally, if turning left onto West Maxwell, drivers can use West Short Street and South Mill Street to bypass the closure and move back onto West Maxwell Street or motorists can proceed further down South Broadway and utilize Pine Street or Cedar Street

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ/Press Release) – Upcoming sidewalk ramp repairs at the intersection of South Broadway/US 68 and West Maxwell Street could result in lane closures if necessary.

The sidewalk work at milepoint 6.427 will go from Thursday, Aug. 12 through Friday, Aug. 13 from 7 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday.

Work will mostly be done from the shoulder. Lane closures could be necessary to accommodate equipment.

If the lane closures are needed, they would be located at the right turn lane from West Maxwell Street onto South Broadway outbound and the right outbound lane of South Broadway.

The road work is scheduled tentatively and could change based on weather, emergencies or factors out of the Department of Highways’ control.
