Portion of Lexington Building’s facade falls onto sidewalk
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A portion of a building in downtown Lexington came crashing to the ground on Thursday morning.
Chief Joseph Best of the Lexington Fire Department says crews responded to a call about part of a facade lying on the sidewalk in front of the Lexington Building at 201 W. Short Street.
Firefighters blocked off the sidewalk and the parking lane in front of the building.
The building’s owner is planning to make repairs, according to Best, but there is no word on when that will happen.
He says the sidewalk and parking lane will remain blocked off until then.
The Lexington Building is almost 200 years old.
