Pool room owner accused of running illegal gambling operation

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Tips from the public of reported illegal gambling led to the arrest of a pool hall owner and the seizure of gambling machines in Laurel County, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Investigators say when they went to Pappys Pool Room on Highway 490 Monday, they found eleven ‘Cherry Master’ gambling machines in the business and witnessed people gambling.

The pool room owner, James Peters, of McKee, was arrested and charged with promoting gambling, possession of gambling records and possession of gambling devices, according to deputies.

Investigators say Peters had a ledger detailing the amount of money paid out and put into the gambling machines on a daily basis.
