Police: Two more suspects arrested on gang recruitment charges

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say they have arrested two more suspects on charges related to criminal gang recruitment. Authorities say the arrests stem from an investigation that revealed the suspects, Arnaz Lee Wheat and Tony McChord Berry Jr. were involved in a gang initiation ritual called a ‘beat in’.

Authorities say 50-year-old, Wheat and 25-year-old, Berry Jr. participated in that ‘beat in’ with several other suspects last September at Whitney Young Park during a sporting event.

Police say they believe the suspects are members of the Chicago based gang, the Black P Stones.

Court documents reveal the suspects repeatedly beat a prospective member for about five minutes as part of their initiation ritual.

Wheat and Berry Jr. have been charged with Criminal Gang Recruitment and are scheduled to appear in court this afternoon to answer to those charges.
