Update: Arrest made in afternoon shooting in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man has been arrested in connection to an afternoon shooting in Lexington.
Police say 44-year old Jeffery Neal Weaver was involved in an ongoing dispute with another man and that around 1:00 p.m., that man was found in the 1100 block of Winburn Drive suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital to be treated. His name wasn’t released. Police say he is 40-years old.
Police say Weaver was found a short time later, taken into custody and charged with Assault 1st Degree. Police say he was arrested without incident and lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center. Investigators did not say what the ongoing dispute was about.
Police say the two men are acquaintances.
This is the second shooting victim found on Winburn Drive this week. Police say a man was shot there on Monday. His wounds were not life-threatening, according to police.
