Search on for shoplifting suspect who escaped from police

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The search continues for a shoplifting suspect who escaped from a police car, ran through traffic on I-64 and into some woods in Franklin County, according to Frankfort Police.

Investigators say they responded to Kohl’s around 3:30 p.m. Thursday and arrested 27-year old Corey Hopper for reportedly shoplifting.

Police say Hopper, despite being handcuffed, managed to escape from an officer.

He was eventually tracked to the Hanley Lane area, but wasn’t found.  The search by Frankfort Police, K-9 and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was called off just before 7:00 p.m., according to police.

Investigators say Hopper is facing escape, fleeing, shoplifting and wanton endangerment charges.
