Police: Richmond man stole, forged checks

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police in Richmond have charged Bobby Sandlin for forgery in connection with passing a number of stolen checks.

According to officers, a woman contacted them saying her bank had told her she was overdrawn.  Investigators say the woman told them after she checked her bank activity, that a total of twenty-four personal checks had been stolen, forged and cashed in May and June.

Police say a follow-up investigation pointed to Sandlin as the culprit.  Sandlin had been doing work at the victim’s house during the period with the checks were stolen and cash, according to officers.  Investigators say Sandlin forged some $1105 dollars in bad checks.

Sandlin was arrested Tuesday at this home, and taken into custody without incident.
