Police Release More On Alleged Bar Assault In Richmond Bar

Richmond police and a spokesman for Eastern Kentucky University have released more details on the alleged bar assault over the weekend.

EKU said the alleged victim in the bar assault is one of its students, but have not released his name at this time.

Richmond police said the reported assault happened around 12:30 Sunday morning in Jerzees on Main Street.

Investigators said the student told them he was attacked by three to four guys inside the bar, knocking him unconscious at one point.

Police said the student suffered a broken nose, broken bones in his cheek and orbital socket, and had to get staples and stitches in his head.

According to investigators, the student tried to walk back to campus, and was eventually taken to Baptist Health Hospital by ambulance.

EKU also said it is investigating a reported incident in Telford Residence Hall, which also took place early Sunday morning to see if it is related to the reported attack in the bar.

There has been a lot of speculation about this story and the people involved on social media and by unnamed sources.

ABC 36 News has chosen not to report that speculation.
