Police: Part of Versailles Road was closed for accident investigation

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A part of Versailles Road was closed for several hours on Thursday afternoon for an accident investigation, according to officials.

The Lexington Police say Versailles Road between Man O’ War and Clubhouse lane wasclosed from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. to investigate a fatal accident that occurred on July 4th.

According to the Fayette County coroner, 56-year old Robert Myers, of Perryville, died after his vehicle was struck from behind.

Police say the preliminary investigation indicates the woman who’s accused of rear-ending Myers’ car was speeding at the time of the collision.

No criminal charges have been filed at this time.

Police say the woman was seriously injured. Her name hasn’t been released.

Myers was the executive chef at the Lexington Country Club and operator of Dandelion Hollow Farm in Perryville.

Myers left behind a wife and 8-children.
