Lexington police need help identifying robbery suspects

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Investigators with the Lexington Police Department are asking the public for help in identifying suspects who robbed two Lexington gas stations.

According to police, the robberies happened on Monday, Jan. 15.

Police say the first happened at approximately 8:20 a.m. They say officers were dispatched to the Mini Mart, on Anniston Drive, for a robbery.

The suspect entered the store wearing a black hoodie, mask, and was armed with a handgun, according to police. They say the suspect demanded money and after the clerk complied, fled the scene.

Police say it was around 10:52 p.m. the same day when officers were dispatched to the Speedway gas station, on Liberty Road, for a robbery.

They say an employee told officers that a man entered the store with a handgun and demanded that the employee hand over the money from the registers.

Police say after the employee complied with the suspect’s demands, the suspect fled the store.

The police department today released surveillance video from the store, which shows the suspect to be a black man, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt pulled tightly around his face, a green coat, jeans with holes in them, and black and white shoes.

Police say the green jacket had US military style patches, flags and emblems but does not appear to military issued. Additional video surveillance shows the suspect entering the passenger side of a vehicle that had been parked behind the gas station.
