“Person of Interest” sought in church murder case

SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) – Somerset Police say they need the public’s help in finding a man they say is a “person of interest” in an elderly woman’s death.

Investigators say 41-year-old Dwight Mitchell Bell is a person of interest in the rape and murder of Ruthie Carolyn New.

They say he is wanted for questioning.

Bell was last known to be in the Indianapolis, Indiana area, according to investigators.

According to Indianapolis Police, there is an arrest warrant out for Bell in a separate strangulation case out of New Castle, Indiana.

Investigators say he may be homeless.

Bell is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, according to investigators.

New was found murdered last week inside a church her late husband founded in Somerset.
