Police: Man tried to light woman on fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a man tried to set a woman on fire in a Lexington apartment over the weekend.

18-year-old Gilberto Reyes was taken into custody late Saturday night, just an hour after the incident.

According to court documents, Reyes sprayed lighter fluid on the woman at an apartment on Cambridge Drive then tried to light her on fire.

Documents say the victim told police while Reyes was trying to set her on fire, he stated he "had to kill her" and "I don’t give orders, I just take them."

Reyes is charged with wanton endangerment.
