Police: Man shoots self in Hamburg parking lot

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Lexington Police say a man shot himself in the Target parking lot, while officers were approaching the car.

Police say they were trying to locate this man around 3 p.m. because he had told his family he wanted to hurt himself. Officers say they found the vehicle in the Target parking lot and officers walked up to the car and heard a single gunshot.

Police say that is when they called for backup.

The man was taken to UK Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say nearby businesses were on lock down for about 30 minutes. Man O’ War was closed for a few minutes between the I-75 ramps and Sir Barton Way.
