Police: Man falls asleep while breaking into cars

HARRODSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Harrodsburg Police didn’t have to search too far to find a man they say was responsible for breaking into several cars around a local business.

Officers say they were called to CC Auto at about 8:35 a.m. on Monday.  Police say workers there told them that a lock box containing several keys had been pried open and that several vehicles had been broken into.

Investigators say they checked out several cars that had been broken into, but eventually found 35-year-old Matthew F. Stewart, wearing gloves and a face mask, asleep in the driver’s seat of one of them.

Police say after waking Stewart, they took him into custody, charging him with 7 counts of theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespassing, and 3 counts of criminal mischief.
