Police: Man arrested for burning a 10-year-old

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The London Police say a man was arrested on Tuesday for setting the shorts of a 10-year-old on fire causing the child to receive 2nd degree burns.

Police say last month Brian Kinney forced the young child to stand next to him while he covered a spark plug in gasoline and ignited it with a lighter.

According to investigators the 10-year-old’s shorts caught fire, which caused second-degree burns to the child’s left upper thigh and Kinney then failed to seek immediate medical attention for the child.

Police say when Kinney was arrested they found .3 grams of a crystal substance and an empty Suboxone package.

Officials say Kinney was charged with second-degree wanton endangerment, fourth-degree assault of a child and first-degree possession of methamphetamine.

He is being held in the Laurel County Detention Center.
