POLICE: Ky. man arrested posing as officer, attempted rape
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said a man was arrested after he posed as law enforcement and attempted to rape a woman in a fake traffic stop.
Deputies said on September 4 Walter Darling, 46, used his personal car, attached emergency lights, and pulled over the victim’s car on Highway 192.
Then he forced himself into the woman’s car using a large hunting knife and forced her to drive to an unknown location in Laurel County where he tried to have sex with her, according to deputies.
The woman was able to get away when he got out of the car to make a phone call.
Officials said Darling was charged with attempted rape – first-degree; attempted sodomy first-degree; unlawful imprisonment – first-degree; impersonating a peace officer.
Darling is being held in Laurel County Correctional Center.
