Police: KY driver went wrong way at high speed on interstate
ONA, W.Va. (AP) – Police in West Virginia say a drunken motorist from Kentucky drove the wrong way on Interstate 64 at high speeds for at least 20 miles (32.2 kilometers) before his vehicle was stopped
Media outlets report the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office charged 35-year-old Joshua Earl Webb of Lovely, Kentucky, with driving the wrong way on the interstate, drunken driving, fleeing and driving on a suspended license.
Deputies say Webb drove west from Scott Depot to Ona in the eastbound lanes early Wednesday. Police spike stripes forced Webb’s car to stop on the shoulder. He fled into nearby woods before being caught.
According to deputies, Webb had been celebrating his 35th birthday Wednesday.
Webb was being held in the Western Regional Jail. Jail records didn’t indicate whether Webb has an attorney.
