Police investigate threat at Paducah school following reference to Marshall County shooting

PADUCAH, Ky. (WTVQ) – Paducah Police are investigating a threat against a student at Paducah Tilghman High School.  Investigators say the suspect mentioned the tragic events Tuesday at Marshall County High School.

Detective Matt Scherr was called to Paducah Tilghman High School after he says a student told school officials that someone she knew had taken responsibility for the shooting at Marshall County High School, and told her, “and you’re next,”

Investigators say the suspect was found in Mattoon, Illinois and was in no way connected to the shooting at Marshall County High School in Benton.

Charges are pending against the suspect, according to police.  The suspect’s name wasn’t released.

Paducah Police say they will have an increased presence at the school.
