Police hope surveillance video will lead to an arrest in robbery/kidnapping case

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Lexington Police hope recently released surveillance video will shed light on a robbery and kidnapping investigation.

The Lexington Police Department report that they are still looking into the robbery of a Family Dollar and kidnapping of a store clerk.

Officers were dispatched to the Family Dollar on Saron Drive in Lexington on April 19 in regards to a robbery and kidnapping.

Reports show that the clerk from Family Dollar closed and locked up the store for the evening then went to Wal-Mart next door to buy a few things.

According to the clerk, as he was walking to his car he was approached by an unknown man in a black hooded sweatshirt with a handgun.

The man punched the clerk and forced him to go back to Family Dollar to get money from the store safe.

The clerk complied and gave the man the money, then made the clerk drive to the area around Man O’ War BLVD and Armstrong Mill Road where the man got out of the car and fled on foot.
