Police chase ends with drug arrest

MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say a chase that began on I-75 in Rockcastle County on Friday, ended on a state road with two arrests. Investigators say a Vehicle Enforcement officer tried to pull 23-year old Zachary Cobb, of London, for speeding near the 62 mile marker along I-75 around 11:30 a.m.

State Police say instead of pulling over, Cobb took off and turned onto KY 461. They say he was driving recklessly and cut-off another motorist. Investigators say the chase continued for approximately four miles, which included Cobb reportedly throwing suspected marijuana out of the car window as he drove. State Police say Cobb eventually pulled over and surrendered to officers.

State Police say Cobb was charged with Speeding, Fleeing or Evading Police, Careless Driving, Disregarding Traffic Control Device, Improper Passing, Possession of Marijuana, Improper Signal and Wanton Endangerment. He was lodged in the Rockcastle County Detention Center.

Investigators say a passenger in Cobb’s car, 23-year old Spencer Brashear, was arrested at the scene on Public Intoxication charges. The case remains under investigation.
