Pleasant weather to end the week

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Happy Thursday! Brr – it’s a cold start to the day! Frosty windshields are likely as you head out the door this morning. These cold morning temperatures will give way to a pleasant afternoon across the region. Afternoon highs will be pushing the mid-to-upper 50s under mostly sunny skies.

Heading to Cincinnati for Reds Opening Day? I’d bring a jacket & blanket, it will be into the mid-50s with a bit more cloud cover than what we will experience here across central & eastern Kentucky. There will be a light westerly breeze through the game as well.

Your Friday is looking fantastic across the region, it’s actually a “Go Day” as well! Afternoon highs will be warmer than the past two days, pushing the mid-to-upper 60s for most. How about Easter weekend? Temperatures will continue to warm-up but there will be a few rain chances. Saturday will be mainly dry with a few showers and/or storms possible with temperatures pushing the low 70s. Easter Sunday will be a similar temperature wise to Saturday but there be a slightly better chance of a few more showers and storms.

Looking ahead at next week, an active pattern will be with us Monday into Tuesday. Rain and storm chances increase Monday, with temperatures climbing into the mid-70s. There is already a severe risk out for Tuesday of next week. This is due to the threat of a strong cold front moving through the region. It’s still too early to talk specifics but Tuesday is a day we will be watching for heavy rain and the potential for strong-to-severe storms.

Stay with the ABC 36 Storm Team for more updates.
