Pizza delivery driver robbed, Ellis fundraiser money stolen

RUICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) -Police in Richmond say a pizza delivery driver was robbed last night, and that the suspects got away with cash that was raised to help support the family of murdered police officer Daniel Ellis.

Officers say it happened about 10:30 Tuesday night, when three men approached a Papa John’s delivery driver in the area of 100 Pine Street.  Officers say the driver was knocked into his vehicle, damaging his side view mirror.  The suspects took 6 pizzas, 2 delivery bags, and a small amount of cash, according to investigators.  The money taken was part of a fundraiser for the Papa John’s, with the restaurant donating 100% of their proceeds for the day to help the family of slain Richmond police officer Daniel Ellis.

The delivery driver received a minor injury during the incident.

Police say the three suspects are approximately high-school aged, and that after the robbery, they ran off toward Dillingham Heights.

Richmond police say there is a reward for anyone who can provide information in the case.
