Pitino’s attorney releases statement after superstar coach is fired

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The University of Louisville suspended coach Rick Pitino as men’s head basketball coach, but the suspension is seen by many as a firing. Athletics director Tom Jurich was also suspended.

All of this is one day after U.S. Attorneys announced indictments in a college basketball bribery scandal involving many schools.

No one at Louisville was indicted but the allegation is that executives with the Adidas apparel company bribed recruits to sign with Louisville. Adidas is a Louisville sponsor.

Pitino’s Attorney released a statement saying “The university placed Pitino on indefinite unpaid administrative leave, and it did not give him prior notice of the disciplinary action or an opportunity to be heard.”

He says Pitino has done nothing wrong and there is no evidence to suggest otherwise.

The firing has caused uproar on social media with Louisville critics creating t-shirts, Solid Blue fans are also speaking their disdain for the ex UK coach.
