Louisville attorney files impeachment petition against Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Pamela Goodwine
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Louisville attorney is seeking to remove a Kentucky Supreme Court justice from the bench.
According to Louisville Public Media, Jack Richardson — a Republican Party official — has filed an impeachment petition against Justice Pamela Goodwine, alleging she should have recused herself from a major education case because of a conflict of interest.
Richardson claims political action committees funded by the teachers’ union and groups tied to Governor Andy Beshear spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to help elect Goodwine. She was the swing vote in a decision to re-hear a case involving Jefferson County Public Schools.
Justice Goodwine, Kentucky’s first Black female Supreme Court justice, has declined to comment.
Lawmakers cannot take up the impeachment petition until the 2026 legislative session begins in January. House leaders have not yet responded to the filing.
