Petition filed in Jessamine Co. to sell alcohol in county

JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Thousands of people in Jessamine County have signed a petition that would put a question on the November ballot allowing alcoholic beverages in the county.

Currently, alcohol sales are allowed with the city limits of Nicholasville.  The county is ‘dry.’

The Chamber of Commerce says allowing sales in the county would bring more businesses, taxes, and jobs.

The petition needs more than 5,000 verified signatures to get it on the November ballot.

About 3,000 people have signed so far, according to the chamber officials.
