Pedestrian killed in Knox County

HINKLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man was hit and killed while walking on a Knox County highway on Thursday.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, 52-year-old Mearldene Abner, of Girdler, was walking up a hill in the middle of Highway 1304 around 4:30 a.m.

The sheriff says, just as Abner was walking up the hill, a driver in a truck was going over the hill and hit him.

Abner was pronounced dead at the scene by the Knox County Coroner’s Office.
