Pedestrian hit and killed in Knox County

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A pedestrian was hit and killed Friday night in Knox County, according to Barbourville Police.

Investigators say 39-year old Corey Tye, of Corona, California, walked into the path of a pickup truck while he was crossing the southbound lanes from the median of U.S. 25E at the entrance to a Save-A-Lot store.

Police say after Tye was hit by the pickup truck, he was thrown into another lane and was hit a second time by a car.  He was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.

The accident remains under investigation.
