Pedestrian hit and killed in Bell County

PINEVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man was hit and killed along U.S. 119 in Bell County when an SUV left the road, according to Kentucky State Police.

The initial investigation indicates a Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling north on U.S. 119 when it went off the road and hit 54-year old John Pursifull, of Pineville, according to KSP.  The Bell County coroner pronounced Pursifull dead at the scene.

The driver and a passenger in the SUV were taken to Pineville Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to investigators.  Their names were not released.  KSP says there were three children in the SUV, but they were not hurt.

The deadly accident happened around 6:00 p.m., according to State Police.

KSP Detective Andy Soltess is conducting the investigation, also assisting at the scene was the Bell County coroner, Bell County Fire Department, Bell county EMS, Bell County Sheriff’s Department and Pineville Police Department.
