PD: Officers caught man assaulting girlfriend

SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ)- Somerset police say officers caught a man assaulting his girlfriend and holding her against her will. They say 29-year-old Timothy B. Bates was arrested early Wednesday morning.

Investigators say it started when a neighbor called police to report that a man was attacking a woman in an apartment on West Columbia Street.  When police arrived, they say Bates wouldn’t open the door. Investigators say an officer then saw him through a window, dragging his girlfriend by the hair. Police say Bates was trying to force her to tell officers she was okay.

Police say they kicked the door in, and arrested Bates. They say his girlfriend had minor injuries.
