PD: Bogus $100 bills used at Richmond & Lexington stores

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ)- Richmond police say several counterfeit $100 bills were used at stores in Richmond Centre. Police say the fake money was passed last Saturday between 4:00pm and 5:30pm. According to investigators, all seven bills had the same serial number.

Police say the suspects also used the fake money later that day at Rack Room Shoes in Hamburg in Lexington.

Richmond police say the money was passed as follows:

The Children’s Place – A white male, brown hair, approximately 6’2”, thin build, wearing glasses and a white polo shirt with stripes, utilized a counterfeit bill to purchase $14.00 worth of merchandise and received $86.00 in change.

Rue 21 – A white male with scruffy facial hair, wearing a baseball cap and white shirt, utilized a counterfeit bill to purchase $13.77 worth of merchandise and received $86.23 in change.

Dress Barn – A white female with very dark, almost maroon hair, wearing dark rimmed eyeglasses, utilized a counterfeit bill to purchase $20.19 worth of merchandise and received $79.00 in change. (The suspect supplied 19 cents to get the even money returned.)

Hibbett Sports – A white male wearing jean shorts and a shite shirt utilized a counterfeit bill to purchase $26.20 worth of merchandise and received $74.05 in change. (The suspect supplied 25 cents to go with the counterfeit bill to receive the odd change.)

Rack Room Shoes – A white female with very dark hair, wearing dark rimmed glasses and hospital scrubs, utilized a counterfeit bill to purchase approximately $20.00 worth of merchandise and received approximately $80.00 in change.

Pet Smart – A white female wearing hospital scrubs utilized a counterfeit bill to purchase $11.65 worth of merchandise and received $88.35 in change.

Dick’s Sporting Goods – A counterfeit $100.00 bill was passed at the store but the store declined to provide any further details to police.
