Past Derby winner, Silver Charm, draws crowds to Old Friends Farm

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – All eyes will be on Kentucky Saturday for the 141st Kentucky Derby but in 1997, Silver Charm was the winner.

He’s now retired at Old Friends Farm in Scott County and with the Derby approaching; he’s quite popular with visitors.
Silver Charm won the Kentucky Derby and went on to win the Preakness. He nearly won the Belmont Stakes.

During his racing and breeding career, Silver Charm earned nearly $20 million.

In December, he returned to Kentucky from a breeding farm in Japan. He’s now retired at Old Friends Farm.
