Paris Police searching for possible child-kidnap suspect
PARIS, Ky. (WTVQ) – Paris Police are searching for a suspect or suspects who may have been trying to kidnap a child off the street Tuesday morning.
Police received a call at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday from a resident in the Thoroughbred Acres area who said someone may have tried to abduct their 13-year-old daughter while she was waiting in the driveway of their home for the school bus.
According to police, a dark blue or black mid-size SUV slowly passed the residence while the girl was at the end of her driveway. The vehicle stopped and backed up to her residence, and a white male exited the passenger seat as as girl ran back to her home.
The male is described as balding, with a gray shirt,” police said.
Police continued to search the area without a positive result at this time. This incident appears to be an isolated event, but police stress the public to contact if any suspicious vehicles in their neighborhoods at any time
“The safety of our citizens is paramount, and we want parents to stress to the students to be aware of their surroundings and refrain from phone use until they are on the bus,” Paris Police said in a statement.
“There have been people using social media to report serious events. Social media is a great tool when used in conjunction with contacting the proper authorities. Please contacted police first, then utilize social media to make others aware of a situation,” police continued.
