Paris City Commission debating fate of 5 police officers
PARIS, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Paris City Commission is debating whether five city police officers should be fired for reportedly spending too much time in the emergency dispatch center. The Paris Police chief says last December, a dispatcher complained that some officers were hanging around the dispatch center. The chief investigated the claim.
The chief says he studied three months worth of video from inside the dispatch center and put six officers on unpaid suspension about two and a half weeks ago. One of the accused officers resigned. The other five officers appealed to keep their jobs.
The hearing before the city commission began Monday and lasted all day. The hearing resumed Wednesday afternoon and continued well past midnight. As of this writing, the city commissioners are in closed executive session determining the fake of the accused officers.
