UPDATE: One teen killed, victim identified, another wounded in Lexington shooting
UPDATE: LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Fayette County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the teenager shot to death on Gardens Springs Drive Tuesday night.
15-year-old Kevin Olmeda-Ortiz is the victim, according to the coroner.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police Department is investigating a double shooting that left a teenager dead and another in critical condition.
Police say shortly after 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 2100-block of Garden Springs Drive.
When they arrived, they found two 15-year-old males suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the teens was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other was rushed to the University of Kentucky hospital where he underwent surgery.
According to police, based on their preliminary investigation, they believe the shootings stemmed from a drug deal.
Police are still investigating and ask anyone with information to come forward.
