UPDATE: Boater rescued from KY River charged with DUI

ANDERSON CO., Ky. (WTVQ) – A man who was rescued after becoming stranded on the Kentucky River has been charged with DUI.

According to the Anderson Co. Fire Department, Robert Callahan’s boat went over a dam after running out of gas.

Rescuers were able to get to Callahan and pull him out safely.

Firefighters say Callahan was checked out medically, and when he was cleared, he was arrested.

The Shelby County Detention Center says his exact charges are second-offense operating a boat/water craft under the influence.

A man is safe after becoming stranded in his boat on the Kentucky River in Anderson County on Thursday afternoon.

Rescuers with the Anderson County Fire Department say the man’s boat went over a dam and he became stranded on the rocks.

The Anderson news is reporting that Robert Callahan’s boat ran out of gas before going over.
