Pine Knot man killed in McCreary County crash

MCCREARY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say a Pine Knot man was killed Wednesday morning in a three-vehicle collision in McCreary County.

Investigators say just before 7:00 a.m., 21-year old Samantha Morgan, of Parkers Lake, was traveling westbound on Highway 90 when she made a left turn onto US 27, right into the path of a car driven by 48-year old Ronald Jones, of Pine Knot, which resulted in a deadly collision.  State Police say Jones was not wearing a seat belt.  He died at the scene.

State Police say after the initial collision, Samantha Morgan’s car was disabled in the middle of the road.  Investigators say seconds after the first crash, a car traveling northbound on US 27 collided with Morgan’s vehicle.  That car was driven by 43-year old Jamie Lyons, of Whitley City, according to KSP.

Jamie Lyons wasn’t hurt.  Samantha Morgan was taken to UK Hospital in Lexington to be treated for her injuries, according to State Police.

US 27 was closed for hours after the accident.  Traffic was detoured in the area.

The accident remains under investigation.
