One man burned in Lexington house fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire at a home on East Maxwell Street in Lexington.

According to fire officials, the fire broke out on the first floor of the home around 9:30 Wednesday morning. Crews were able to put the fire out about 15 minutes later. A house next door was charred by the flames.

Firefighters say the home is split into three apartments with one person living in each one. They say only one person was home when the fire started, he was taken to UK hospital for burns. His condition and the extent of the injuries is unknown but neighbors say they saw the man walking around before being taken to the hospital.

Firefighters say they do not know, at this time, how the fire started but they believe it was an accident.
