One killed, two injured in Laurel County crash

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Laurel County woman was killed, her husband and a passenger seriously injured in a crash just east of London, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say around 11:30 p.m. Monday, 51-year old Randy Smith, of London, was driving a small SUV westbound on Sally’s Branch Road, when he lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and slammed head-on into a tree.

Smith’s wife, 53-year old Connie Smith, of London, was riding in the front passenger seat.  Deputies say she was partially ejected and died at the scene.

Randy Smith and a back seat passenger, 41-year old Kevin Lawson, of London, were both airlifted to UK Hospital in Lexington with serious injuries, according to investigators.

The cause of the deadly crash is under investigation.
