One injured, others forced from apartment by fire

IRVINE, Ky. (WTVQ) – One person was injured and others may have to find another place to live following an apartment fire Monday afternoon in Estill County.

Investigators say the fire started in a ground floor unit of the Stacy Lane Apartments off Richmond Road outside Irvine.

The fire spread to units upstairs.  Investigators say all four apartments in the building were damaged.  The people who live there weren’t going to be allowed back in until each apartment was inspected.

Firefighters say when they first arrived they found a man trapped in the downstairs apartment.  They say he suffered burns and smoke inhalation.  He was airlifted to the hospital.  His name wasn’t released.

No one else was hurt, according to firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
